Tournament Schedule

The tournament bracket will be e-mailed to your team leader/coach the week of the tournament. The schedule will also be posted on: Facebook – Larry Wright Basketball

General Procedures

  1. All participants must be registered and sign all necessary paperwork prior to participating in the tournament. Players who do not appear on a team’s roster will be classified as ineligible and must be registered before being allowed to play.
  2. No roster additions will be allowed once the tournament schedule is posted.
  3. Teams must arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled start time to ensure that the event runs on schedule.
  4. All players must have their valid I.D. card at the registration area in order to play.
  5. Any player that is bleeding must leave the game immediately. The bleeding must be stopped and the wound securely covered with a bandage before the player can continue.
  6. The referees are responsible for recording scores, running clock, and keeping order. The referees have the authority to eject any player for unsportsmanlike behavior (profanity, fighting, etc.)

Game Format

  • Each team must have at least 5 players present to begin game play. Teams may have a maximum of 10 players on their roster. If a team does not have 5 players at game time, they will forfeit the contest.
  • Each team will have an assigned color to wear – shirts will be provided the day of the tournament.
  • If a team falls below 5 eligible players during a contest due to injury or ejection, play can continue but that team must compete shorthanded.
  • Each court will have 2 designated referees.
  • Games will begin with a jump ball.
  • Each game will consist of two, 10 minute halves with a running clock. Clock will only stop on timeouts, halftime and referee discretion.
  • Each team is allowed one, 1 minute time out per game.
  • Halftime will be 1 minute – teams will switch baskets at this time.
  • The clock is stopped for dead balls during the final 2 minutes of the second half.
  • Games are first team to 21. No win by 2.
  • All baskets are 1s and 2s.
  • If neither team scores 21 in the given time – highest score wins. If the score is tied up, there will be a jump ball for possession and the next point wins.
  • Each team is allowed one, 60 second, time out per game.
  • Substitutions can be made on dead-balls or time-outs.
  • 8 second, backcourt, 5 second inbound violations in place.
  • Every violation will result in taking the ball out at half court. No side or under the basket inbounds.
  • Referees will give the ball to the defense to check with the offense before play resumes.

Fouls

The designated referees are responsible for calling any and all fouls at their discretion.

  • Shooting fouls resulting in a missed basket will be awarded a free throw shot(s). 1 free throw shot for 1-point shot, 2 free throw shots for 2-point shot.
  • Non-shooting fouls under 2 minutes will be 1 and 1.
  • Players fouled on a made basket will result in one free throw shot.
  • After the 4th team foul the opposing team will be awarded 1 free throw

Stalling

Stalling goes against the fun principles of basketball. An “unwritten 30-second clock” is in effect at all times and may be enforced by the referee at their sole discretion.

  • Stalling will not be allowed at any time during the game.
  • A verbal warning will be given to the offense if a shot has not been attempted within 30 seconds of the ball being inbound.
  • If a team is warned for stalling, the referee will administer a 10 second count during which a shot must be attempted. If a shot is not attempted, ball possession will be lost.
